The human behind the work.
Sugarbean is what I called my daughter when she was a baby. It was one of the thousands of evolving nicknames that stuck. Becoming a mom clarified everything for me: what work is worth my 80 years of time, what endeavors matter most, and how I can make a mark on the world through public service.
I started Sugarbean Creative because I kept seeing early-stage and small organizations doing work that mattered, but their digital presence didn’t reflect what they do.
They weren’t failing at marketing because they didn’t care; they were failing because they were too busy doing everything else right. Marketing became the thing that got squeezed in between.
I’ve spent over a decade working for and helping nonprofits, schools, and mission-driven organizations in a marketing capacity building a genuine image that reflects their work. I’ve led campaigns, built email strategies from scratch, managed social media for communities of 26,000 people, and earned national recognition for communications work in the public sector.
I hold a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit administration. I understand how these organizations work, what they’re up against, and what good marketing actually looks like inside them.
In a world of automated content, I believe that human-centered communication is the most potent tool a mission-driven organization can have in their toolbox.
Your good work deserves to be seen and amplified. I want to help you get there.
